Bloomberg reports multimillion-dollar YouTube offers for timed creator exclusivity
Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the discussions, that YouTube was offering popular channels millions of dollars to keep videos exclusive to YouTube for a limited period as Netflix pursued prominent digital creators. The proposed compensation included direct financing for some programs and participation in major brand deals arranged by YouTube. The report also said creators releasing the same videos on Netflix could be featured less often in YouTube marketing campaigns or events and could be excluded from proceeds from some large brand campaigns. Bloomberg reported that YouTube had not finalized a deal with any creator, although agreements with several partners were described as close.
